Glenvervie Memorial

Update from Frank Smith 30th May 2017

Just to let you all know, Megan and I painted the gate today and had another sweep up with the broom afterwards.

Update from Frank Smith 14th  May 2017

Just had a very informative and constructive visit to Glenbervie Kirkyard  this morning. Present were Edith Stuart , Frank Smith , Cathie and Chris Dawson.

We have as yet been unable to obtain key for Mausoleum but will try to contact Jean Dick and possibly Jim Brown .

Frank and Chris cleared a bag of leaves and moss from the floor of the Mausoleum and generally tidied the area while Edith gave us a potted history of the stones . There is quite a bit of pointing work to be done on the small wall and paved stones at the entrance , which Chris is willing to do and the metal gates need to be rubbed down and repainted ........ Frank is willing to do this . Once we have the key they can get on with the work.We then stopped at the Cairn at Clochnahill . Again it needs a wee bit of pointing work but nothing too much . The main problem is the amount of rubbish strewn around the area . We cleared the immediate area but the Council needs to be involved . This is a lay-by and as such should have a rubbish bin . Edith is to contact Councillor Dick regarding this .
