Fiona Kennedy A Great Success At Mearns Connection Event.
A large crowd were regally entertained by Fiona Kennedy on Sunday afternoon at the final event of the Mearns Connection Festival. Sponsored by the Fatherland Club Fiona first had an interview session with Jim Brown asking the questions in his own inimitable style. Fiona proved to be witty and charming. She delighted the audience with tales of her singing family, her childhood, her career and her current initiatives promoting the wealth of young talent that exists in Scotland today. After a break she performed an eclectic mix of Scottish songs, Gaelic songs, novelty numbers and parodies. She soon had the audience clapping along. A highlight was a medley of Burns songs which aptly fitted the occasion. She was given a well deserved ovation at the end of her performance.
Local band the Trybe ably warmed up the audience for Fiona with some stirring pipe music, drumming and novelty songs.
MC for the afternoon was club chairperson Andy Hall who expertly handled proceedings with a couthy warmth.
